I believe my mother took this picture, along with the banner that is at the top of this blog. That picture is looking north on Hacienda Place. I’m guessing she then turned around to the west and photographed our house. If you look closely at the porch window, you can see Kathy peering out.
Based on the landscaping, I believe this was taken in 1953, which was when the house was built. I’m doubting that the grass for this lawn is dichondra at this time. But it was by the time all three of us were born. Big mistake on my parents’ part. Not a real durable grass for kids who spent hours running, sliding, tackling, and generally just tearing it up.
We didn’t erect a neighbor fence around the perimeter either. Nope, Dad put in something more nefarious, baseball eating ivy. Spent more time trying to find the balls thrown into there then having a catch.
At this time the home was a two bedroom, one bath casa. But that would change five years later when Chris entered the picture. Boy, it didn’t take her long to spend the folks’ money. That story tomorrow.
