Monday Minutiae

I’m bamboozled with the weather this summer. Especially here in normally “sunny and warm” SoCal. Yes, September has been known to get very hot, but October? The past two weeks have been averaging 100-plus daily.

Then this weekend arrives and so does tropical storm Rachel, who is laying devastation to the entire coast, as she lingers while moving east. The famed Wedge is getting destroyed by the king tides she has wrought. The flooding that occurred on Friday I’ve never seen before in Balboa/Newport. They closed all of the beaches this weekend because of it. Now this morning I’ve seen video of Balboa Island and the tide in the bay is surpassing the sea walls in places. If this is an omen of El Nino in 2027 to come, it’s going to be a rough winter.

Speaking of rough……the Chargers are broken. I can’t watch them anymore. Herbert gets crushed in the media for never winning anything. But when you have cap space and don’t spend it to protect him, he’s going to play to just survive four quarters. Plus I’m thinking he and McDaniel are not a good fit.

I’ll only say one thing about the local baseball team that I’ve cheered for my entire 71 years. It looks to me like Shohei is actually Joe Hardy and Applegate is calling in his marker.

Lastly, I’ll do a little foreshadowing of topics to come in McRelative……
