What this is – the Remix

When Mom passed away in 2018, my sisters and I spent time meticulously going through her and Dad’s artifacts. There were copious amounts of loose photos much like the picture above. This is but a small sampling.

My sisters chose what they wanted, but that probably amounted to a dozen. As I went through them, it became obvious that several I had no clue who was in them. The other puzzling thing was which were from the McBeth side and the McWilliam side. I know there is a large mix of both. But it seems my mother kept a motherlode of her mother’s photos. Problem was, no scrapbooks or labeling. The pics my mom got developed did have writing on the back of several. But the majority are mysteries.

It might have been easier to just chuck them into the dumpster. But I’m too much of a sentimentalist. So I kept the entire trove. Stuck them into envelopes and a box or two, and put them in my office at home. So for the last eight years, they’ve been sitting there, just like they were for the last 40 to 50 years at my parents’. So these photos became another impetus for this blog. I’m hopeful that some get identified by cousins. There aren’t any aunts or uncles around anymore.

So expect a weekly mystery picture post. I just hope that those pictures, where I’m not sure what side of the family it is, someone will have an answer. In the meantime, let me introduce you a couple of people who I wish I could have a conversation with one more time.
